Xbox Controllers are my Weakness

As I sit here still waiting for Bungie to allow me to update my name on Destiny, I thought I’d share something I’ve been meaning to for a while. I am absolutely obsessed with getting cute controllers for my Xbox. It started with having all of the shadow controllers (the volcano, dawn, and ocean options) and has since evolved into me custom-ordering controllers through the Xbox Design Lab. I love my controllers and want to share them here because why not? Here is my collection:

My first custom controller was the love of my life. You can tell it is older because it doesn’t have the “Share” button in the middle. Lovingly engraved with “Machina” (THE NAME I WOULD USE FOR DESTINY IF BUNGIE WOULD LET ME CHANGE MY NAAAMMMEEEEE), me and this controller had many good times together. I loved the simplistic design. Back then, there weren’t as many color options and combinations available. My old faithful. I still love you. She’s a lil dirty looking now. She also inspired me to order a custom controller for my niece (she chose blue and gold as her colors).

This next one. Let me tell you, I walked by her in Target and did a double-take. She was glowing and so different! I debated with myself – do I really need another controller??? No…. but…. LOOK HOW PRETTY!! She glows beautifully under my Hue lights. She worked wonderfully until she developed a drift. I need to send her to get fixed. Yes, I refer to all of my controllers as girls. Electric Volt is one of my favorites!

This next one… we didn’t last long. I tried to make it work, but I had to return her. The aqua shift controller captured my attention at Best Buy. I thought I didn’t need it because I have this lovely electric volt controller, but I couldn’t resist. I brought her home and used her for a while until she kept randomly disconnecting in the middle of my gaming sessions. Unfortunately, she was sent to the pasture and returned, hence, no pretty picture. I opted to not exchange since I have a lot of controllers anyway. I’m adding her here as evidence of my controller addiction:

For no reason at all, I felt compelled to check out the Design Lab again and saw the updates. There were so many colors and options – I couldn’t resist! Another custom controller WITH a Share button?? I needed it. I made a nice little Halloween-y controller and loved it so much I ordered a matching controller for my niece. When we play together, we both use our orange controllers. Mine is “Machina” of course and hers has been engraved with her gamertag too!

I thought I was done with controllers once I ordered my orange baby. I didn’t need anything else in my life… Until one fateful day, another beautiful controller caught my eye at Target. I don’t even play Forza, but when I saw that controller, I knew I needed it. She’s translucent and vibrant. She’s so pretty!

I love how unique this one is. I also really like doing little reveal videos of my controllers. I don’t need to post one for each of them, but this is basically what I post on Instagram every time I get a new one:

Anyway, there’s no point to this post other than to share my collection of controllers. Controllers are one of my favorite things to buy besides books. Just linking the Design Lab in this post has me tempted to look at more combinations of colors. I love them so much.

Do you have a favorite controller? Have you ever custom-ordered one? You don’t have to tell me I’m ridiculous for having so many; I already know, but let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
