When my husband stopped playing Palworld, my days in the game ended too. I wanted to play, but without him to host the world, my only other option was to start over. I did NOT want to do that… The amount of time and effort that it takes to progress in this game can be heavy, especially as you reach those higher levels. But I finally did it. I started over… and it was worth it. I’ve been having fun playing again and I was finally able to get a jetragon.
Jetragon is arguably the best pal in the game. He’s super fast, really powerful, and just a lot of fun to play with. Having jetragon is like playing on easy mode. He melts 90% of enemies you encounter in the game and if you level him up with pal souls, he is an unmatched behemoth. When I crafted the saddle, the first thing I did was go blast a bunch of random enemies. It is just so satisfying.
I would also like to point out that what makes this more impressive (to me) is that I did it by myself. Before, it was always me and my husband tackling the challenges together. Now, I am fighting every boss and every encounter on my own. The preparation for a solo fight is very different and I fail enough that it makes me rethink the choices I make. But now that I have jetragon on my side, the odds feel a bit more in my favor. I mean, I was preparing for a big fight with this boss and jetragon just kind of… sneezed and moved on.
Now that doesn’t mean everything in this game is easy. Like I said, 90% of encounters, he heavy carries me through it. There are a couple of situations that have been particularly challenging: the level 55 oil rig, a level 65 enemy faction base, and Moonflower Tower.
Something I am proud of myself for is accomplishing things I hadn’t done before. I never went into Moonflower Tower in our shared world (I never felt like I was strong enough), but I yolo’d into it and lost to the 10-minute timer. So, freshly stocked up with lots of rockets and after pumping my pals with a bunch of souls, I tried again. It was down to the wire… BUT. I did it. I actually beat the tower all on my own! For the first time!
After that, I felt pretty unstoppable. I started challenging all of the bosses in the newest world that I never fought before. I have beaten every wandering boss in every zone now. There is just one final tower to beat (and I highly doubt I am ready for that). With the max level being 65 and me sitting on the brink of level 58, I have a lot of newer materials to make to start crafting the highest level gear. But I am having a lot of fun working my way up. I’ve caught some new pals including this monster who sounds like a giant steamboat.

I have been fishing a lot, and while it is one of the easiest ways to get high-level pals and some rare materials, it is a complete pain in the ass. It feels like a worse Stardew Valley mechanic because sometimes your bar will go in the opposite direction for no reason at all. I catch a lot still because I have the Stardew experience, but it is pretty janky overall and not my favorite activity to do. Also, side note, I figured out how to hide my ugly helmet so these eyeball appearances should start to not exist soon enough.
So what am I doing now? I’ve finally crafted a gigantic furnace, a crude oil extractor, a large incubator, and a large power generator. I’ve also started running expeditions at my camp which is a new feature that allows you to send up to 100 pals into a dungeon to collect loot for you. No risks really except that the pals in dungeon are unavailable to you while they’re gone. Otherwise, keep playing as usual, collect loot, rinse and repeat.

I’m trying to mix up my party and use different pals than I did in our previous world. I still have jetragon and shadowbeak running around with me, but I’ve added some new pals into the mix and I’m considering more swaps as I catch new things. I want to try and have elemental variety so I can open chests around the world. So for example, instead of having beakon, I’ve been bringing this azurmane around. The jury is out on if he will be a permanent member of my roster, but I do think he looks cool.

Even with all the time I’ve put into this game, there’s still so much more I haven’t done or discovered. Palworld is definitely one of my favorite games and scratches the Ark/Pokemon itch like no other. I hope they continue to release new content for the game because I have a blast playing it. There are so many new games coming out this fall/winter that I want to play, but I hope to keep Palworld heavy in my rotation.

And one more video for the lulz.
