Palworld: A Lot Can Change In One Month

Man, I need to get better about writing more often. I had been recording and screenshotting all of my progress in Palworld without realizing how much things had changed… not to mention there was a new update to the game recently! I guess we can start with what I was up to and go from there.

First thing’s first, I’ve been building up my main base a lot. I’m farming as much as I can, but I’ve not done a lot of crafting. Making spheres has been at the bottom of my list since I’ve been running around collecting them in the various zones, but it’s starting to become a problem. I’m over level 50 now and I need to start catching the higher level pals. I also need to start crafting more ammo so I can challenge the towers to get more mining options at my base. It becomes a vicious cycle of repeatedly scouring the map for resources so I can make OTHER resources so I can craft something and then… I need to go get more resources again. It is tedious, but I lose myself in the mindless tasks. I do end up picking up waaayyy too many eggs along the way. I think the eggs are my favorite things to find.

I’ve been challenging more of the bosses on the map now. In the zones that launched with the initial release of the game, I have beaten every boss except for the level 60 ones. In the newer zones, I have fought a couple of the human bosses, but they are pretty tough. I think the highest level one I’ve beaten so far was level 52 and it was dicey. But then I go show some other weak boss what’s what and pretend I’m strong and cool again. These rushoars participating is extra funny because they are normally aggressive towards you when they see you. I guess they thought it was funnier to roll this fool around with me instead.

I did attempt to go to the oil rig that is over level 50 and that did not work out. The level 30 one was a breeze, but I wanted the good loot! So I thought I’d try sneaking around there and grab the chests, maybe die, but at least I’d have something to walk away with. I think I got maybe two chests before I had to accept that there was no way I was surviving that. I barely had any ammo; I had shit armor… I was just a girl with a dream that was never meant to be. This is leading me back to my first problem of: I need more materials; I need to craft more; I am stuck in a vicious cycle using bullets to survive on my quest to get materials to make progress!! Look at all these guys at the rig. Don’t they have enough already? Let me take your stuff.

I’ve caught some more pals that drop from meteors. I don’t know if this guy is a new addition, but I did not see him when I played on my husband and I’s shared world. He’s giant and he’s cool. I had him running around in my party for a while, but I need some variety unfortunately for the types of fights I get into and the special chests that need pal perks to open. While I love a party full of these dragon options, I had to swap him out. I wish I could carry more than five pals at a time…

You may have noticed I changed my hair. I did get the appearance changing furniture so I can change up my look whenever I want. I needed a makeover for the new content, I guess, which I had no idea was even coming out. I just signed in, looked out across the water and said, “wtf is that?”

Palworld has added some new little islands, some new pals, a dungeon, and fishing. I have to say, the fishing is abysmal. I feel like it is trying to do the Stardew Valley thing but worse. It is not very intuitive and I lose most of what I try to reel in. I hope they adjust the mechanics of it soon. The dungeon is also a weird place with strange pals(?), treasure to be found, and a crazy floating eyeball boss. You can catch the enemies you encounter in there, some of which definitely do not fit the mold of the world, and there are some normal pals in there too.

I had the luck (or maybe misfortune) of getting a legendary helm to drop from beating the boss the first time. It is the strongest piece of armor I have and it is also the ugliest thing I own too. Can Palworld please incorporate a “hide helmet” mechanic like other games have because I hate this ish. My anubis standing creepily behind me didn’t help.

There is also a new thing where there are little bases scattered around the world that you can infiltrate and rob. They have lots of enemies, chests, and a captured pal inside. I’ve stumbled across two so far. I’ve also adopted the approach of yolo and I just run in, grab what I can, and if I die, I die. OMG I hate this helmet so much. Why does it have to be the best armor I have?

I feel like I’m kind of all over the place in this blog because I took too much time in between posts. Long story short, I’m still cruising on my own and I need to start really investing in making the heavy-hitting weapons so I can take down more of the towers. I’m getting up there in level so I am hoping I can start taking on more alphas and bounties soon… and yeah. That’s it. I’m living my best life on Fart Palace… until I run into roaming alphas much bigger than this that stomp me to death. I’m pretty sure I beat this one… the jormuntide ignis though… that was a bad time.

Anyone else out there playing Palworld? Have you done the dungeon yet? Do you think fishing sucks too? Let me know in the comments!
